Android app
Privacy policy — Tooliz
Last updated: 27 September 2026
Draft. This text describes what the app’s code does. It still has to be checked against the “Data safety” section of the Google Play listing before publication.
In short
- Tooliz requires no account. What you create in the app (notes, password vault, scores, settings) stays on your phone.
- The free version shows Google AdMob ads. Google then processes some data (advertising ID, IP address, device information), with your consent for personalised ads.
- The app uses Google Firebase for usage statistics and notifications.
- The “Zero Ads” purchase goes through Google Play, which handles the payment.
- A few tools need the internet and send data to an external service only when you use them (details below).
Who is responsible?
Tooliz is published by Quentin (QuentinRG), an independent developer publishing as Studioz, in Paris, France. For any question: studioz.dev.fr@gmail.com.
Data that stays on your device
Notes, drawings, the password vault (encrypted and protected by your fingerprint or PIN), scores, history, presets and customisation are stored locally. They are not sent to us. They are deleted if you clear the app’s data or uninstall it.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Until you buy “Zero Ads”, the app shows banners and, after several tools have been used, a full-screen ad. These ads are provided by Google AdMob. Google may collect the device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP, technical device information and your interactions with ads, in order to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud.
In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, a Google consent form is shown on first launch. You can change your choice at any time in the app: Settings & Info → Manage Ad Choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
Google’s policy: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Usage statistics and notifications (Google Firebase)
Firebase Analytics measures how the app is used (screens and tools opened, session length, device model, Android version, country or region) using a random installation ID. These statistics are only used to see which tools are used and to improve the app.
Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns a token to your device so that notifications about the app can be sent. You can turn notifications off in Android settings.
Purchases (Google Play)
The “Zero Ads” purchase is processed by Google Play. We receive neither your payment details nor your name: the app only receives confirmation of the purchase so it can remove ads. Google keeps the purchase history linked to your Google account.
Permissions
Android asks you for each permission when a tool needs it. You can refuse it: only that tool will not work.
| Permission | Tools | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Spirit level (AR view), protractor, magnifier, mirror, colour picker, QR codes, text scanner, PDF tools | The image is analysed live on the phone. It is not saved or sent, unless you export a file yourself. |
| Microphone | Sound meter, tuner | Sound is analysed live to measure a level or a pitch. It is not recorded or sent. |
| Location | Compass (nearby places), speedometer, GPS sports timer | Used for speed, distance and finding places. See “Online services” for the requests made. |
| NFC | NFC reader and writer | Reads and writes the tags you hold near the phone. |
| Biometrics | Password vault, secure folders | Verification is done by Android; the app never receives your fingerprint. |
| Photos / storage | Image and PDF tools, QR codes, text scanner | Access only to the files you choose. |
| Flashlight, vibration, internet | Flashlight, haptic feedback, online tools | Needed for those tools to work. |
Online services used by some tools
These requests are only made when you use the tool concerned. Like any connection, they send your IP address to the service called.
- Compass (nearby places) and speedometer (speed limit, places): your GPS coordinates (search area) are sent to OpenStreetMap’s Overpass API (overpass-api.de, Germany). If that server does not respond, a mirror operated by VK (maps.mail.ru, Russia) is used.
- Speedometer map: map tiles are loaded from tile.openstreetmap.org and the address is looked up via nominatim.openstreetmap.org, which receives your coordinates (OpenStreetMap Foundation, UK).
- Translator: the text to translate is sent to the MyMemory service (Translated srl, Italy).
- Spell checker: the text to check is sent to LanguageTool (LanguageTooler GmbH, Germany).
- Currency converter: exchange rates are fetched from api.frankfurter.app (no personal data apart from the IP).
- Network tools: your public IP is obtained from api.ipify.org; a ping is sent to the address you enter.
- Soundboard: the catalogue and sounds are downloaded from GitHub Pages (thelampio.github.io).
The text scanner (OCR) runs entirely on the device: no image is sent.
Transfers outside the European Union
Google (AdMob, Firebase, Google Play) may process data in the United States under its contractual safeguards. The fallback server used by the compass and speedometer (maps.mail.ru) is located in Russia.
Retention
Local data is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app. Data processed by Google and by the services listed above follows their own policies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can request access to, correction or deletion of your data, or object to processing, by writing to studioz.dev.fr@gmail.com. As the app requires no account, we generally hold no data that identifies you directly. You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, CNIL (cnil.fr).
Changes
This policy may change as the app evolves. The date at the top shows the latest update.
